l'Haut > Lormes, morning test ride

15 km

Since we arrived, the weather is cold and clouds are all over the place. The sun passes through from time to time but it's not the best time to start cycling. For the beginning of this trip, I'd prefer to have few nice days to be able to get used to it. This morning the weather is still cold and rainy so I'll do only a test ride to feel the bike.

This is my setup, version 1. I will upgrade it along the way. I mean, I will organise my stuff differently depending on what I use the most and when.

Brrrrr, the weather is cold.

Let’s go!

The goal today is to climb the steepest hill of my trip to Fréjus which is right now, at the beginning. I have 6 km of uphill.

Some blue sky again. Nice. So far the climb is steady and definitely doable.

Clouds are coming back again. The weather changes very fast.

Cycling and walking

Lormes! I’ve done it :-)

Oh, a lookout. Now I’m here, I should definitely have a look.

This is the road I will follow tomorrow, IF the weather allows me to leave.

Let’s go to see that view.

Almost there.

I’m walking up that last bit as I don’t want to stress the chain too much.

Arrived!

Car’s mum mentioned that I could do a loop instead of coming down the same way.

Wrong way down

Google Maps brought me straight to a forest path which was way to messy for my tiny wheels. I returned to where I came from and chose another alternative way down but yet again, I’m on a gravel road. That’s not too bad for now but with Google Maps, we never know where that will lead.

The weather is grey again…

Ahlala. I’m ending up in the bush again. Let’s keep going and see if that’s doable. I’m not far from connecting to the main road.

Yep, I’m in the forest now 😅.

Gravel road again.

I’m walking because it’s downhill and there are a lot of gaps. I could easily fall.

long downhill!

I’m almost back to l’Haut.

That’s the hameaux’s center :-) Very small.

Back to where I started. Now, at least, I know that’s doable. Let’s see if tomorrow the weather will be nice enough or not.
