Today my plan is to reach Papaaroha. The first half of this trip I will be cycling along the sea. The second half should be a little more tough with some hills here and there. Let’s go!
First mission of the day : verify if there is something interesting in the fridge. Usualy if the food belongs to somebody this person should put his product in a bag or be a minimum organise. But inside this fridge it’s a mess and the camp is empty. So, I can help myself as you can see here :-).
- Cereals I like it!
- Honey yes!
- Soja sauce, I have already.
- Butter, I take it!
- Marmalade, too heavy.
- Milk, too heavy.
- Different sauces, I don’t like those.
- Ok that’s good :-).
I’m right on the coast now but I’m cycling against the wind…
Everyone in Thames says that Coromandel has the most beautiful beaches of New Zealand. I’m not really convinced so far… The color of the water is brown…
I have no idea why this frog is here. Maybe some French people live nearby?
Who will win? The house or the nature?
I’ve just missed this storm, few!
Very colorful cafe. In summer it must be full.
Front of the cafe, a beautiful park attached to the ocean.
Leaving that little town
I’m going behind all those mountains :-).
Apparently there is a garden to visit here. My book doesn’t mention the price so I’m afraid it’s expensive.
Is it allowed to build electric poles this way in New Zealand?!
Hey! The weather is getting nice and warm, cool.
Finish the coast, I’m attacking the real part of coromandel now. I’m about 100 meters high now and it’s still going up. The view is great though!
Going up!
Wow! There is lots of hills over there.
Few! Wow! My ass! It’s 200 meters in altitude now and I need a sandwich break! While eating I met two cyclists and then a third one arrived to the top with race bike. As usual we exchange some words. One of them told me “how the hell can you do that with extra weight?” haha! 🙂 I take my time. They are going to coromandel town (where I’m heading as well) to take a ferry back to Auckland. But I will continue my way to Papaaroha. I could join them but they continuing right now and I need a break.
It looks like the far west here :-).
What is the name of the animals? I feel I’m not in the same country as 5 minutes before.
The firemen house.
A visit of this cute little town.
That’s a cute little home.
A little while later
A free place is always better than a cheap camp. I’ll take my shower tomorrow. The gate was open so I took the opportunity. I will be as clean as every time and the owner will have no idea that I was there.
Quite peaceful actually.
I will wait for the sunset to install my camp without being seen. Good night!
