Today should be the most difficult part to join the top end of the Coromandel peninsula. I will pass through every bay which means hills. I hope the weather will be kind with me because this wind is persistent.
Last night was windy and rainy but still, it was good because free haha. This morning I was zipping off my tent when I saw this bird. These days, I see this bird more often than pigeons. Maybe it’s the NZ pigeon.
Packing up!
I’m on my way after Colville where I bought some expensive bread to be ready for the rest of the trip. Once I will reach Port Jackson, there is a DOC camp, nature and nothing else :-).
Ah? Have I changed the country again?
Colville is now on the background. The tide is coming up in the bay.
The sealed road lets place to the gravels.
I don’t have much drinkable water with me but finally I find a place to fill my bottles. This river looks clean but we never know. Maybe there is a dead possum somewhere in the water. My super Katadyn ceramic filter will keep me safe. I can drink as much as I need, cool!
That tree looks… weird!
On the opposite side of that strange tree, the landscape looks like safari. I feel I’m somewhere in Africa now :-).
With a larger point of view we can see the separation between the green and the brown.
Cycling around
I’ve reached the coast again. I’m wearing my rain gear because 10min ago it was like storm and now I feel so hot! But I’m sure if I take theme off it will rain again.
A live view to appreciate the power of nature :-)
Macdo is everywhere! Maybe there is WiFi for free around haha.
These trees are call pohutukawas (Wiki), I don’t know what does it means but they are several times 100 years and grow sometimes on an horizontal way. Crazy trees.
I like nature but live here… It’s very far away of every thing.
I have nothing to say for this series :-). Nature, nature, nature.
I’ve reached the first camp 🙂 There is 4 DOC campsites on at the top of Coromandel peninsula. This one is cute but I want to continue a bit more. Just a short break for a sandwich and here we go!
Having some food
Is it the last corner? It reminds me when I was canoeing in Ardèche, France (Wiki). Close to the end every curves seemed to be the last one but it wasn’t :-).
Ah no it’s not….
That’s where I come from.
The picture looks much better when I look behind 🙂
Here is the first time I pushed my bike… For 10 meters 🙂 Go go go! I’m almost there. I can see the beach of Port Jackson over there.
Few! Almost 200m in altitude!
Finally reaching Port Jackson
Let’s have a visit.
Good to have a rest!
That was a wonderful day :-). Tomorrow, day off!
