Taupō

35km

~2h

October 4, 2012

This week will be rainy as well but I won’t spend my time in McDonald’s, just a few days :-). My plan for today: visiting Huka falls, the dam, then swimming pool to take a good shower, and finally McDonald’s to charge my camera.

One way.

Last night I had a good sleep even if Frenchies around me talked for ever. Fortunately I was so tired and did not hear much. Now it’s 12:25 and everybody has gone already. This morning was raining but now it’s much better. I will pack and start my visit.

Packing my stuff

After only something 3km I’m already on Huka falls but it is not the right spot yet.

That is the right view 🙂

Look at the color of the water. Beautiful!

That view angle is better to see how huge is this waterfall.

Keep on moving

I didn’t remember that but there is a track called Aratiatia rapids walking track witch joins the dam. Always better than the road 🙂

We are passing under the road, nice!

Roh! There was certainly a forest here… Not anymore…

One of the biggest geothermal station in New Zealand.

That’s really better than the road.

The landscape changes every time.

On the way to the dam

Finally the dam! I imagine something bigger.

Another view of the dam. The clouds are coming…

The visit ends here. I will find the pool now.

Going to the pool

I took the same path to come back, passed front of the free camp where I left my tent with the food. Now I’m in Taupō and ready to have a great swim in this pool :-).

Inside there is a sauna end two water slides. On the left side it’s possible to go…

… outside. Hence, this water is hot 🙂

There is also a pool for people who want to exercise.

I found this picture on a door about a pool in Tokyo. The text underneath the image writes: Tokyo water park. Welcome to breathtaking Tokyo water park where you can wash away the pressure and stress of the over crowded city and relax with your friends in the soothing enjoyment of sun, fun and slashing.

Japanese people are crazy lol!

Around the city center

I was going to McDonald’s when I saw that : The French café. Right now it’s closed. I guess it’s not the season yet.
