Finally! I’ve wondered during the whole trip if my bike would arrive in one piece or not. End of the story, I arrived on time and nothing is broken, nice 🙂 Now, the harder is to come : I want to assemble everything as fast as possible and arrive to the campsite before nightfall.

Auckland, here I am!

Before unpacking…

Ready to ride! It feels so good to be finally starting that trip. It is real, I don’t have to think about it anymore. I just have to enjoy.

Here is the supposed road I took using Google Maps in 2023. From Auckland Airport to Avondale Motor Par (Google Maps).

The way out of the airport was a bit confusing. First there was a bicycle line, perfect. But after few kilometers it stopped abruptly while I was riding along the highway towards Auckland city center. I wish I had taken a photo to show you how inexplicable was that bicycle line ending like this.

Anyway, I kept on cycling a bit longer expecting to find an exit or another dedicated line but I ended up at a merging point. Unfortunately the new road was coming from the left side so I had to cross 3 lanes while cars were arriving pretty fast from behind. What a start… Finally I found the right moment to rapidly cross the road and kept cycling on the left side until I reached an exit, few! That was not the type of start that I expected but I found a way out fortunately.

Almost to the Motor park

I’m almost at the campsite. It is later than I expected but I took a longer road than expected.

My first sight at the New Zealand sunset. It is a bit covered today but I’m sure I’ll see some beautiful sky very soon.

    1. Mouai mouai, je ne sais pas trop. Le vélo à survécu mais comme j’ai du plier le carton plusieurs fois pour le mettre sur ma remorque donc je ne sais pas si il fera le retour… On verra bien j’y suis pas encore 🙂
