Today it’s Monday but no one is going to work or school. Maila offered that we visit around Tikitiki (Wiki). I’ve cycled through that town on the way here but I didn’t take the time to have a look.
We start the afternoon by making crocodiles with beads :-). I haven’t made these for something like 15 years haha 🙂 After a bit of research I could finally teach Caila how to make it. Next time she will be able to do it on her own. She is really happy with this one :-).
On the way to Tikitiki
Maila wanted to show me the longest Waka in the world. Unfortunately we can’t approach it because that canoe stands onto private lands…
A woman told us that we could climb the fence but the owner might not like the idea. That’s the closest picture I can do, better than nothing!
Moving around town
The last visit concerns one of the most beautiful church built for Maoris in the region. Usually I don’t like taking pictures of religious building but the decoration is quite something. The frame of this entrance is all carved by hand. The inside is really beautiful as well but I did not take any picture at all. You can see the inside here.
Back "home"
