Today, we are going to Gisborne with Maila and Ramai. Maila is going to participate to a 10km marathon. While she will be running I will visit the city with Ramai :-).

It’s 5:50am, we are ready to go.

Almost there

I slept during the road trip to make sure I will have something to discover when I will be cycling to Gisborne later on.

We are roughly 40min away from Gisborne now. Maila wants to show me the wonderful view from this place. It’s also a good spot for having breakfast.

Hey! There is already surfers waiting for waves.

That’s a good point of view indeed! :-).

Arrived in Gisborne

Here we are Gisborne. The registration for the marathon is already open.

There not so many participants yet because we got here early.

15 Min before the race starts. The crowd is growing!

5 minutes left!

Goooo!!!

In this picture there are 3 persons I know: Maila wearing a grey t-shirt, Chris and Tarek (with the flags on the right hand side of the photo). They are Maila’s friends and live here in Gisborne.

Maila, number 1138 is focused :-).

Visiting the city

The runners are gone. Now we are visiting the town with Ramai. These cities’ streets have always the same layout and design. I’m trying to take something particular but that’s tricky.

I don’t know what is that building about but in Paris, there is a metro station called “Odeon” (Wiki) as well :-).

Would that clock tower be the icon of Gisborne?

It’s Sunday today and the city is really quiet. There is only few shops open like this one.

I think they missed the point here. It’s not Hawaii (Wiki) :-).

From left to right: Ramai, Tarek and Chris. All of them happy :-).

Maila, you should open your eyes, it’s easier that way haha :-).

Maila’s time 53:54, 6 Min better than last year! Improving :-).

Before we drive back to Ruatoria, we made a last stop at McDonald’s. These ducks would like to have a good fat burger as well apparently :-).

Back "home" again

Almost back to Ruatoria. Hikurangi mountain is watching.
