Another day, another climb to a crater. It is good training for what is coming but without the trailer it is nearly too easy. This climb is steeper than Mount Eden.
That is the first time I see this type of sign while we are in the middle a city. Here, most of the parcs have sheep and cows moving around. That’s quite refreshing. Country side people cannot mock citizens in New Zealand 🙂
As says the page in the following link, Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill was one of the most extensively developed Māori pā (village settlements) in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, and today it is one of the largest pre-European archaeological sites in New Zealand.
The volcano Rangitoto is still standing in the background. Rangitoto in Maori means “Bloody red sky”. It’s name derives from “te rangi i totongia a Tamatekapua -> The day when the blood of Tamatekapua was spread. It is a reference to a battle. That’s what says the book I have. Don’t think I know all this stuff haha.
Sheep in the middle the city. That’s something original for sure. Actually it is sad that it is an exception while it should be the norm.
Ah, finally I spotted one cow. There is more around but this one is the least shy apparently. That’s it for today. I haven’t take a lot of photos. I was enjoying too much apparently.
😀
Alors alors tes muscles tu les sens pousser ????? 😀 😀
J’ai pas hâte d’avoir des mollets de poulet rôti en fait.
