The passed 5 days were ok. Two of those were rainy days so I read, ate, read and… ate. At that time I did not have yet the best solution to access to the internet without limits. I wanted to keep some credit to be able to use my GPS for my departure towards Sandpit.
In Orewa, the beach is wonderful! The first day, the wind was very powerful and steady. There was a good dozen of kite surfers on the water. The next day, the wind dropped but this time I saw a good fifty surfers catching waves. That was terrific!
During those 5 days, I also cycled around the estuary formed by the Orewa river.
A cycleway covers most of the path and there beautiful houses with garden with the best view, wonderful!
Another day
I also cycled to Shakespear Regional park (Google Maps). Before leaving I asked the manager of the campsite if that trip was doable in one afternoon and also if that was hilly or not. She answered me: “It’s hilly at first and then it’s flat”. Euh, really ?! Maybe I misunderstood the lady because that was not flat at all. She apparently knows her region pretty well lol.
Anyway, after several climb at 6km per hour and speedy down hills, I finally reached Jurassic Park.
Seriously, I feel they have dinosaurs on the other side of this fence. Ok, small dinosaurs as the fence is not very high 🙂
Before reaching the park I saw a grandma collecting algae on the beach. Maybe that’s to feed the monsters of that park, who knows?! 😉 I asked her but the answer was deceiving: “No, I use these to cover the ground around the plants of my garden because that’s good for them”.
In the meantime, my hands are freezing (the temperature is only 5°C right now). In fact, that park (Wikipedia) is protected (I saw that) like many of areas in New Zealand. Good!

Merci Pierre 🙂 c’est vrai que la première semaine étais dure, il pleuvait chaque demie heure. Mais là ça fait maintenant 6 jours d’affilé qu’il fait super beau donc je fais du vélo tous les jours. J’arrive bientot à Kerikeri là où je vais bosser une ou deux semaines on verra 🙂

Les fiords y en a mais ils se trouvent au sud ouest de l’île du sud donc les photos c’est pas pour maintenant :-S
