The sunshine is finally back. The campsite starts to become really muddy with all this rain. No surprise, I am the only one sleeping in a tent haha. Everyone else stays in their mobile home. They might be right actually 🙂

The trip of today. That’s for my personal record 🙂

For your information, the main photo of the previous blog post represent the last 3 days including this morning. Suddenly, the sun decided to come back, yes! I picked up my bike straight away and went on my first visit trough the city and along the coastline.

I’ve discovered something today! All the buses in New Zealand look like this one! Lol, I’m kidding. It’s a bit scary though. It could provoque some accident if someone is surprised by one of those.

Landscape of the Auckland bay with Rangitoto island in the background. This is a 600+ years old volcano which is perfectly circular if you look at it from above.

Okahu bay in the background with a restaurant right on top of the water.

Clouds are coming back!

A little while later

Very nice view point of Auckland. People who live here must feel so lucky!

… and the house that goes with it 🙂

In a rough look, I see a lot of similarities with Sydney (Australia) where I spent 3 months in 2008 but Auckland is way more hilly than the Australian city.

Back to the center

Another photo of the port of Auckland set to the north of the city. Ok, it’s grey and boxy but these huge cranes are quite impressive.

Aaaah, modern city life… Soon it will be country side, sheep, cows, nature, sheep, woofing, tent, sheep, … 🙂

It’s now 5pm, I’m hungry (and I feel cold as well).

The Sky tower! At first I passed front of it without even noticing it. But then, I heard some guy shouting from the sky and I realized he jumped from the tower (with an elastic). “Ah ok, that’s the building I was looking for, for the passed 10 minutes” :-). For your information, this is the highest tower of the south hemisphere (at least, in 2012). The entrance fee is quite high so I’m not sure I will visit it. Let’s see.

Nope, this place is not a circus. I think it is a shop where people can buy physical gold. Actually it’s written in big font “GOLD HOUSE”. At first sight I though it was a ‘1$’ shop where we find mediocre stuff for very cheap. Anyway, there is certainly more interesting building in Auckland than this one. It was just so colorful that I had to stop and take a picture. Let’s move on shall we? 🙂

Last picture of today that captures the atmosphere of the buildings. That looks nice. After that, I tried to follow another cyclist up and down the hills until I gave up. The guy stopped front a cycle shop. Intrigued, I did the same and discovered a very nice place: Bicycles, tools, camping gear, surf gear, everything! I hope I will be able to find that shop again because Auckland is quite hilly so orienting myself is an ongoing process for now.
